God in All of This

A long-dead moth, sunburned
to a brown wrapping paper facsimile
of Moth, depends upside down
by a back leg from a drop line
of spider silk between the kitchen
window and the screen. Desiccated,
not eviscerated, a spider toy,
a mobile. God’s playthings, too,
hang, turn, and dry out into death.

In 2005, she moved to the Mediterranean island of Malta, returning to Canada in 2006.
