Kaleidoscope

Please, don’t worry
the earth is still here ~
the wind and the sky ~
they wait for us

This indigo sky ~
on a clear starry night
gives way to a gentle dawn ~
held in a whisper blue
in a silken sunrise

Overhead light bearers ~
create an ever changing kaleidoscope!

Carilion bluegrass
berry plums and
flamingo pinks ~
mixed in famous hues & colors

Moving and flowing like
a beautiful new scarf
placed over my head ~
quietly and with ease,
folding into the curves of my day

I close my eyes
I see the end of day,
rich in golden light
now shining on Lake Ann’s shorelines ~
velvet golden shelves
frozen in limestone ledges

The tops of the hills light up
catching treetops
in brand new bold strokes ~
painting grand
swaths of fire

Light keeps moving west
and then west again
as it falls into shadows ~
echoing back to a honeydew sun,
filtering light moves these woodland hills
into evening

I can hear love songs . . .
deep and ancient
Skywinds
meet me on the rise

There in twilight
I emerge awakening
to see my day refreshed
in a silent prayer ~

while the world sleeps
yet never still

I am a retired teacher and live in the beautiful Ozarks on Lake Ann in Bella Vista, Arkansas.
