Opportunity Missed

Longing tugs,
want nudges,
loss fills in every crack.
Mist descends,
slowly obscures
the beauty of ocean
glittering in sun.
Suddenly sun,
always sun
above, behind, beneath
the veil.
I have seen the veil.
It parted in a breeze once,
but settled again,
never
to be moved again.
