Solo

O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you refute the idea of coincidence.
For example, solo, known also as alone,
can separate into so low, which is
how many (myself included) feel when solo.

A show about God and planes shows
after my anxiety-ridden flights.
To the Golden State I go with an ill
feeling; anxious, therefore low,
and that’s no mistake when it happens solo.

Surely, I try to ease my mind when I make
connections, find patterns, human-like.
During turbulence I close my eyes and repeat
in my mind, Dear Lord, thank you
for this life, I want to live, even if I’m alone.
